[Error: unknown template qotd]Interesting question. My feeling is, poetry has been replaced by song lyrics in the average person's life. We can wring our hands about people not knowing Ginsberg, but the fact is, they're going through their lives with Pete Townsend or Connor Oberst or someone else's lines running through their head. One can argue if that's a good subsitute or not, but people are still drawing power from words writting in verse, they're just mostly sung.
