Nice. Real nice.
I have never friended or been friended by this person, even when we were popslashers together. I'm suddenly very glad for that.
I always thought that people who claimed persecution for being bandslashers were protesting a bit much. I mean, all my main fandoms have looked batshit insane from the outside-first popslash, then Hanson. Even when I get involved in a media fandom, it's weird-Boy Meets World, Big Wolf on Campus.
So this isn't the most persecuted fandom, but it might make the top ten.
A lot of people dropped my ass like a hot tear gas canister at a police riot when I started getting heavily into MCR fandom. It took me a while to notice, but they did. And by the way, I've done the math-I average about five bandom related posts per twenty on my main page. That's a fourth, which I don't find excessive.
Does this kind of thing happen to any other fandoms? Well, Harry Potter has always been a fine source of wank, so maybe. But nobody ever seems to go "Oh hai, you're posting too much about Stargate, lolz filtered!"
I'm sorry if I don't pick "cool" fandoms. I never have. *NSync slash, we should all remember, was not a way to get fandom status at first. At all. I cannot generate much interest in the cool kid fandoms like SPN or Stargate Atlantis. I have nothing against them, they are good for fandom. And you know what? MCR are good for fandom as well.
I am not friends locking this one! I'm mad as hell and I want everyone to see it!

Date: 2007-09-27 06:27 am (UTC)...she and I are gonna be at Wincon together. I think I'll just her a wide berth, because me + booze + her would probably equal drunken shouting, and I don't want that.

Date: 2007-09-27 06:45 am (UTC)I honestly didn't see anyone in bandom saying, "oh, we are so oppressed," until people started saying, "Bandom sucks and is full of loser teenies and I HATE IT SO MUCH and shut the fuck up about Ryan Ross's stupid face, all of you suck and I don't want to hear it." (Or alternately, saying, "I'm defriending all bandom people/I'm filtering until the CRAZY BANDOM PEOPLE shut the fuck up!") Then people, quite reasonably started saying, "Um, hey, I like bandom and I'm on your flist, so what's up with that?" And then the original posters went, "God, I don't even care about your stupid bandom, do whatever you want. Why are you bandom people SO DEFENSIVE," which, gee, I wonder. (Example: this (http://winterlive.livejournal.com/388477.html?thread=10281597#t10281597), among others in that post.)
Honestly, when I see someone mention not being a fan of bandom, just in passing, in a post? I'm cool with it. It's not their thing and that's fine. It's when I click on the comments and see people lining up to go, "God, me too! I can't wait til my flist gets less stupid," and it just turns into a venting session for people who hate bandom, I'm like, "Gee, why would anyone take this the wrong way? All they're saying is that we're stupid crazy assholes and they want us to shut up and the things we love so manufactured that all the smart people (aka, those who hate bandom) can see through it and we're just poor deluded fangirls." No WONDER bandom is defensive, dude. No wonder.
/end rant. probably. I could say something about phaballa, too, but I'm just rolling my eyes because after talking to her in another post I'm halfway convinced that she's wanky on purpose.

Date: 2007-09-27 08:26 am (UTC)I guess everyone's taking a pathological hatred of Pete Wentz out on us. I mean, I never heard about a bandom person breaking into a popslasher's house and screwing their dog, did you? Because that's how some people are reacting, I swear.
(I have got to get some Panic! icons.)

Date: 2007-09-27 08:37 am (UTC)I'm kind of sorry that my Hanson interest withered on the vine the way it did. That was bizarre.
William Beckett is crazy attractive. He would work in any era of rock-80's hair metal, 70's hard rock, maybe even 60's garage rock. 90's grunge. Someone needs to timeslip him back to the 70's so he can screw David Bowie, forreals. I would read that.

Date: 2007-09-27 09:15 am (UTC)I just don't get it. I like musician fandoms, and I love MCR as a band. so I've been trying not to take the slams against them personally, but it's getting out of hand.

LOL whatever. Her NAMBLA comment kind of offended me, tho. No clue why, I make the pedo!Pete jokes too, but it just hit me the wrong way given the tone of the post.

Date: 2007-09-27 04:42 pm (UTC)See, I like it when people on my friends list have diverse fandoms. There are a few people I know who are into sports fandoms. I will never be into sports fandoms, because I don't watch sports and I don't find giant sweaty men sexy. But I have a few friends who adore the challenge of slashing these big hetero looking hunks of man, and more power to 'em.

Date: 2007-09-27 03:02 pm (UTC)But, personally, I don't think you post too much about your fandom stuffs. I've read a little bit of it, even though I'm not into MCR or FOB that much. It's not my cup of tea, but I gave it a chance. I just don't read the posts that are about that (mostly fiction or something) :) No reason to filter you though :D
I lurve you too much to filter you out haha

Date: 2007-09-27 04:49 pm (UTC)Plus we have so many bands to play with-about ten! I've always said that bandom people start off slow, into one band, then they notice all these other guys milling around, get interested in that...and then you've got a ton of bands to keep up with.

Date: 2007-09-27 03:23 pm (UTC)Admittedly there've been a few occasions where I've wished people would give it a rest, because IMO whatever the thing is is NOT that exciting, but I don't defriend someone over ONE new fandom that I don't share. If I did I'd have lost a good third of my flist when "Lost" started. LoL

Date: 2007-09-27 04:52 pm (UTC)I know, how hard is it to just be happy for someone? But like I said in another comment, band fandom has so much going on (ten different bands at any given time) that one could easily post about nothing else.

Date: 2007-09-27 05:11 pm (UTC)I know I've been squeeing over World Of Warcraft lately, and I guess that's made a lot of people not comment on my posts. However, it's my journal and I tend to write about the things that interest me. If anyone doesn't want to read it, they can just quietly de-friend me. :)
I quite enjoy reading other people's posts about their other fandoms or interests because it broadens my horizons a bit.
