I love this theory as it does seem to work a lot of the time - although finding someone who hits all the "normal guy" traits is sometimes hard.
I immediately thought Nate Mendel for the Foo Fighters - he always seems like the quiet one, especially on stage where he just kind of hangs back and plays bass...has that normal guy look for the most part too. Though he was one of the founding members of the band and isn't the best friend for Dave Grohl...that would go to Taylor Hawkins, who at first doesn't seem like the normal guy at all, but then
- replacement drummer (THIRD one for the band) - he's actually in "real life" perhaps the shyest and least comfortable with interviews and too much probing into personal things - had issues with the non-stop touring and pressure on the band that ended up leading to drug problems and near death from overdosing
