I have one leftover superstition: that if you sweep someone's feet with the broom, then they won't get married. Honestly! That's an old Southern one.

Date: 2009-09-29 01:45 am (UTC)I know the sweep your feet one cause I worked in a restaurant in north Florida and once swept near the feet of a middle aged woman who screamed and jumped out of the way. She schooled us all about that superstition and I still am careful if sweeping near others.
I also throw spilled salt over my shoulder and won't walk under ladders.
