I have one leftover superstition: that if you sweep someone's feet with the broom, then they won't get married. Honestly! That's an old Southern one.

Goddamn, when did Sesame Street stop being so freaking BADASS? I bet the kids on there today get Miley Cyrus, maybe, if they're lucky. Sesame Street in the 70's was the shit!

It really was! This is the best clip I've ever seen from that show, or actually, of this song. LOVE the little girl grabbing the rail and really getting into it. She's fantastic.

Damn it, so that has been my problem all along. I wonder if there's some kind of voodoo cure. (Not that I necessarily need to get married. It would be nice to split the bills sometimes, though.)

Heh, yep. That's a really old one, my mom used to tell us that. "Don't sweep your sister's feet-she'll never get married!"

That is one of my favorite Sesame Street moments!

I know the sweep your feet one cause I worked in a restaurant in north Florida and once swept near the feet of a middle aged woman who screamed and jumped out of the way. She schooled us all about that superstition and I still am careful if sweeping near others.

I also throw spilled salt over my shoulder and won't walk under ladders.
