[Error: unknown template qotd]Cell. Fucking. Phones. I'm a grocery store cashier. Note to humanity at large: get off the goddamn phone for two minutes and complete a simple transaction. It honestly does not take that long, but it'll take longer if you can't tear yourself from the disembodied voice giving you orders through a headset that makes you look like the fuckin' Borg. This is my job, you might not be on the clock but I am. So put down the damn phone and show a little respect.

I've seen that too! I even talked to the cashiers about how annoying a customer is while they are on their phones. It's a shame that ppl of today don't have manners =-(

It's a pet peeve, it really is. Don't throw your merchadise at me and don't talk on the cell phone. That's all I ask. (Although, people who finish up a call as they get to the front and apologize, those people are just fine. I appericate it.)

Holy crap! That used to annoy the hell out of me when I was a gas station cashier. What's even worse is that one asshole who is talking on the phone the entire time in the morning when everyone is trying to just get their coffee/newspaper/gas and go. And then he wants to look at you like YOU'RE the rude one.

I don't have the option of refusing service, either. I have to wait on the asshole. Also, leaving the line and getting more items because the Mother Voice directed you to is damn annoying when there's people in line. You should've made the last call before you came to see me.

It's a upscale market. They never refuse anyone. Even things that are clearly illegal, like selling alcohol to someone drunk (that was today). God forbid someone be offended and not come back.
